Lynn Herring Rings the Bell

by HVLong on June 25, 2009

Daytime fans will remember Lynn Herring for her role on General Hospital as the scheming and delightful Lucy Coe. Lucy raised all kinds of hell in Port Charles, not the least of which included marrying Dr. Alan Quartermaine in that wildly daring and inappropriate red dress.  Lucy also provided her ex-lover Scotty and his wife Dominique with a womb so that little Serena Baldwin could be brought into the world.

Lucy’s love story with her Doc is one of the best in General Hospital history. She and Kevin made the jump to the GH spinoff Port Charles in 1997 where she remained until 2003. Unfortunately, Lucy and her Doc were not brought back to General Hospital when Port Charles ended. I still like to think of them living in their lighthouse together with Sigmund (the duck).

Ms. Herring is married to Wayne Northrop (ex-Roman Brady, DOOL, ex-Rex Stanton, Port Charles) and they share two sons.

Herring will return to daytime television in July as Audrey Coleman, mother to Trent Dawson’s absolutely fabulous Henry on As the World Turns. Audrey abandoned her children and Henry is not quick to embrace her return.

About returning to daytime, Ms. Herring said: “I have missed telling stories and when you start seeing the cows as characters in plot lines it’s time to go back to acting.  ATWT has great producers, actors and writers. I have always admired the quality of their work. My dear friends Kin Shiner and John Lindstrom have loved working on the show and made me want to do it. I was thrilled to be asked.”

Welcome back Lynn Herring! I’ll definitely be tuning into ATWT for you!
