Wildfire TV Show
From LoveToKnow Soap-Operas
The Wildfire TV show premiered on the ABC Family network in 2005 and aired for four consecutive seasons, ending in May of 2008. Set in a fictitious version of Fremont, California, Wildfire is actually filmed in New Mexico. The show follows the adventures of Kris Furillo, a jockey for Raintree Farms and Wildfire, the stallion she saved from slaughter.
Wildfire TV Show Guide
Genevieve Cortese makes her television debut as Kris Furillo. In the pilot episode, Kris is serving time for grand theft auto at the Camp LaGrange, a juvenile detention facility. At the facility she meets Pablo (Greg Serano, Legally Blonde), a volunteer at the center who happens to co-own Wildfire. Pablo sees promise in Kris and encourages her to pursue a second chance at Raintree Farms. Once upon a time, Pablo was the head trainer at Raintree and he recognizes Kris’ talent with horses.
Kris comes to Raintree where she gets a job as a stable hand. It does not take her long to be plunged into a complicated love triangle and deep family rivalries between Raintree and Davis Farms. Matt Ritter (Micah Alberti) is the heir apparent to Raintree despite his best efforts to avoid the family business. Junior (Ryan Sypek) is his competition at Davis Farms, who shares Matt’s desire to break away from their family obligations. Kris is torn between her affections for each man, their goals and the horseracing world they live in.
Initially, Kris finds acceptance with the unruly Wildfire. His outsider status on the farm is something she can connect with. She works with him and together, they prove he possesses strong racing potential. Kris’ skill with Wildfire may help put Raintree Farms back on the map and save the Ritter family.
Seasons of Love
Kris and Junior’s attraction begins early in the first season. Kris is often torn between their relationship and her loyalty to the Ritters. Their relationship is tested, time and again, against the backdrop of the racing world. Junior resists inheriting the family business and copes with a gambling problem. Kris copes with her trust issues. Kris’ affection for Matt Ritter is another difficulty to overcome.
At the end of the fourth and last season, with Matt’s blessing and assistance, Kris and Junior are finally married. Kris learns that they will not be leaving the area, because Junior supports Kris’ family ties and understands the support structure.
Other Characters
Nana Visitor (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) plays Jean Ritter, Matt’s mother and one of the owners of Raintree Farms. She becomes a mentor and mother figure to Kris. She and Kris do not always see eye-to-eye, especially over the stallion Wildfire.
Nicole Tubiola plays Danielle Davis, Junior’s younger sister and majority owner of Davis Farms. She runs her own veterinary clinic and only takes over the family farm when her father Ken Davis, Sr. (played delightfully by James Read of North and South and Charmed) faces charges for fraud.
Andrew Hoeft plays Todd, Matt’s younger brother and the quirkier member of the Ritter family. He develops a crush on Kris early on in the first season.
