Who is Going to Die on Desperate Housewives

Who is going to die on Desperate Housewives? It might be better to ask who hasn’t died on this program? The show premiered on October 3, 2004 and in the pilot episode, Mary Alice Young committed suicide. Martha Huber blackmailed this desperate housewife because Mary Alice stole her baby from a hospital.

The death of Mary Alice created an omnipotent narrator for the show that quickly became a signature for the episodes of Desperate Housewives.

Rex Van De Camp is the next major death to rock the housewives. Rex (played by Steven Culp) is Bree’s (Marcia Cross) first husband and the father of her two oldest children. Prior to his fatal heart attack, Rex suffered two natural ones. His heart medication helped him to regulate his heart problems until his pharmacist (seriously new twist in storytelling) tampered with his medication. George Williams (the pharmacist) was in love with Bree and he wanted to get rid of Rex so she would be free for him.

Next to die on Desperate Housewives would be pharmacist George Williams (Roger Bart). He took an overdose of sleeping pills with Bree watching him. The plan, warped as it may seem, was for Bree to save George. Unbeknownst to George, however, Bree just learned that George killed Rex. She watched him take the sleeping pills and sat there in the hotel room while he died.

Nora Huntington (Kiersten Warren) was killed by Carolyn Bigsby. Carolyn shot Nora, while holding a group of people hostage in her husband’s store. For Nora, death was simply a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Matthew Applewhite (Mehcad Brooks) arrives on Wisteria Lane at the end of the first and beginning of the second season. His mother Betty (Alfre Woodard) and he are concealing his brother Caleb in their basement. Caleb murdered Matthew’s girlfriend in Chicago and they want to protect him. In the meanwhile, Matthew starts dating Danielle (Bree’s daughter). After a series of conspiracies, Betty learns that it was Matthew, not Caleb, who murdered his girlfriend. She warns Bree, wanting to keep Danielle safe. Matthew shows up with a gun and is prepared to kill Bree to get to Danielle and a S.W.A.T. team kills him before he can pull the trigger.

Monique Polier (Kathleen York) enjoyed her affairs with Harvey Bigsby and Orson Hodge. Orson’s mother Gloria (Dixie Carter) kills Monique for having an affair with her son. Gloria convinces Orson that she killed Monique in self-defense and they try to set it up so that Mike Delfino will take the blame.

Alma Hodge (Valerie Mahaffey) is a disturbed woman. She raped her husband Orson by feeding him Viagra and hormones. She is presumed dead many times during the series, but she really meets her maker when she plunges from the roof after escaping the attic where Gloria Hodge locks her away.

Carlos’ mother, Juanita (Lupe Ontiveros) never liked his wife Gabrielle(Eva Longoria). She spent five months in a coma after Andrew (Bree’s son) accidentally ran her over. She has evidence that Gabrielle is cheating on her son, but is never able to tell anyone because she falls down the hospital stairs just shortly after waking up from her coma.

Martha Huber (Christine Estabrook) blackmailed Mary Alice and that blackmail led to Mary Alice’s suicide. Mary Alice’s husband Paul strangled Martha when he learned of her part in his wife’s death.

Carolyn Bigsby (Laurie Metcalf) is a little crazy. She was convinced for years that Orson murdered his first wife Alma. When Bree gets tired of her interference, she reveals that Carolyn’s husband Harvey is having an affair. So incensed, Carolyn goes to his store and holds several people hostage. When Lynette (Felicity Huffman) accuses Nora Huntington of coming onto her own husband, Carolyn shoots her. During the scuffle afterwards, Carolyn herself is killed by another hostage.

Ida Greenberg (Pat Crawford Brown) was a fixture on Wisteria Lane. She gave the Scavos shelter in her basement during a threatening tornado and sacrificed herself when there wasn’t enough room for her under the stairs as the house collapsed. Lynette feels tremendous guilt for Ida’s death.

Victor Lang (John Slattery) is another victim of the tornado that ravaged Wisteria Lane. During a fight with Carlos (who was sleeping with Victor’s wife and Carlos’ ex-wife Gabrielle), Victor is impaled with a flying fence post.

Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany) returns to Wisteria Lane during Season 4 and brings tragedy and death with her. Her daughter, Dylan Davis with her ex-husband Wayne Davis, died when a shelf fell and crushed her. Katherine secretly buried her in the backyard before fleeing her abusive husband. She adopts another girl and christens her Dylan, keeping secret the death of her biological daughter.

Katherine’s aunt Lillian (Ellen Geer) dies of natural causes, but not before writing a note that reveals the truth of Dylan Mayfair versus Dylan Davis. Sylvia Greene, a woman who slept with Katherine’s second husband in Chicago, also makes an appearance on Wisteria Lane. Her arrival leads to the dissolution of Katherine’s marriage and Sylvia later dies during the tornado.

Wayne Davis (Gary Cole) menaces Katherine and later kidnaps Katherine and Bree after he learns the truth about Dylan. Katherine is forced to shoot him in self-defense.
