Viki and Charlie One Life to Live

The relationship between Viki and Charlie (One Life to Live) is an example of the kind of pairings that Erika Slezak’s Viki Lord Buchanan Davidson has always excelled at. The down to Earth man, grounded, decent and perhaps a little flawed is Viki’s ideal companion.

Love Is in the Air for Viki and Charlie, One Life to Live

Viki’s many loves over the years include Roger Gordon, Clint Buchanan, Sloane Carpenter and Ben Davidson. Her relationship with Clint has led to at least two marriages and two near reconciliations, but his relationships with Lindsay Rappaport and Dorian Lord effectively turned Viki off from reconciling with her former husband.

In 2007, Viki left Llanview following the death of Asa Buchanan. She traveled to Paris, Texas and took a job as a waitress in a diner. She was on a journey of self-discovery, searching for a new purpose in life. Viki’s lost a lot in love, but she’s never lost the capacity for loving deeply. She and Charlie sparked from their first meeting in the Bonjour Café, but life in Llanview summoned her home.

Charlie made his way to Llanview as well, where his son Jared was working a con on the Buchanan family in hopes of landing some of Asa’s millions. Dorian’s knowledge of Charlie’s secret drove a wedge between Viki and Charlie for a time, but when Charlie remodeled Carlotta’s diner in Angel’s Square after the Bonjour Café, he and Viki reconnected.

In June of 2009, Charlie proposed to Viki and she said yes. Will Charlie and Viki make it to the altar and find happiness together? Only time will tell, luckily Viki has many loves to give.

Charlie Banks is played by actor Brian Kerwin. Kerwin is a well-known character actor who has appeared on numerous series including Law and Order, Grey’s Anatomy, Medium, Boston Legal, The West Wing and in feature films including Katherine Heigl’s 27 Dresses.

Kerwin brings a rugged, raw charm to his role as Charlie Banks. Despite his deceptions and misunderstandings, Kerwin’s earnest nature shines through. He is very believable in the role of lover and future husband for Slezak’s Viki.

Erika Slezak’s portrayed Victoria Lord Riley Buchanan Carpenter Davidson since 1971. She is to OLTL what Susan Lucci is to All My Children and Tony Geary to General Hospital. The actress has been nominated numerous times and won six Daytime Emmy Awards for her role as Viki Lord.

The actress is very devoted to her show and to the show’s rich history. She took Dena Higley, the head writer of OLTL in 2007 to task for her lack of caring about the show’s history in a fan club newsletter. Higley was subsequently replaced.

Viki Lord’s battles with multiple personalities may be over, but her daughter Jessica continues to struggle with mental illness. Charlie wrestles with alcoholism and fatherhood. Together, the couple support each other through their various trials.
