True Blood Season 2 Spoilers
From LoveToKnow Soap-Operas
True Blood season 2 spoilers have run amuck since HBO announced the Alan Ball series would be picked up for a season 2. Many spoilers can be found in the Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse books upon which the television show is based, but the deviations from the literature can keep fans hopping.
About True Blood Season 2 Spoilers
At the end of True Blood’s first season, the serial killer has been stopped and Sookie, Sam and Tara are closing up shop at Merlotte’s when they find a body in the back of Andy Bellefleur’s car. Andy is pretty drunk at the time, but the foot falling out of his back seat features painted toe nails and is obviously dark skinned. Fans held their collective breaths for months as spoilers pointed to Lafayette as the victim in the car, after all, Lafayette dies at the end of the first book and beginning of the second. It makes sense that Lafayette is the victim.
Spoiler sites posted their speculations, many of Charlaine Harris’ fans posted confidently that it would be Lafayette that was found dead. Executive producer Alan Ball deftly dodged questions about Lafayette as did series leads Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. Fans of Nelsan Ellis, the delightful actor behind Lafayette crossed their fingers and hoped, after all, series differences existed between the first book and the first season, so perhaps there could be hope for Lafayette.
Countdown to the Launch of Season Two
As with the first season, True Blood was promoted largely through viral campaigns, images and online buzz. The series came with a built in fan base because Harris’ Southern Vampire Mystery series is enormously popular. Fan sites for the series already existed online. The series also garnered fans of Alan Ball’s Six Feet Under which ended about two years prior to True Blood beginning. The success of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series and film helped to whet the public’s appetite. True Blood, however, is definitely an adult oriented show featuring nudity, sexual scenes and graphic violence at times.
Generally well received by the critics, some fans deplored the increased roles of characters in the book who were considered minor while still others found the expansion beyond Sookie’s viewpoint to be rewarding. The addition of the young vampire Jessica at the end of the first season offers endless possibilities for the second. Many online sites have featured True Blood related articles throughout the spring, increasing in frequency as the June 14, 2009 premiere date for the second season approached.
Debut numbers for the second season are 151% higher than the debut for the first. The series is also considered one of the highest to be downloaded illegally as fans who do not have HBO or who do and want a digital copy scramble to download it after the show airs.
