Season Two: True Blood Episodes

True Blood episodes blend sex, danger and desire in a thrilling cocktail that titillates and charms fans in equal measures. What makes True Blood work is in large part due to the stellar cast embodying the characters and a writing staff that shows admiration for author Charlaine Harris' work. That said, reading the novels will not spoil a viewer's enjoyment of the television series or vice versa. Enough differences exist between the two that the parallels and differences are equally exciting.

Episode Synopsis

Nothing But the Blood The identity of the murder victim in the back of Andy's car is revealed to be the woman who conned Tara and her mother. Sookie learns about Jessica and Bill's part in creating her. Sam recalls an encounter with MaryAnn from years before. Sookie gives Jason her inheritance from Uncle Bartlett and he considers using it to go to the FellowShip of the Sun leadership retreat.

Keep This Party Going Sookie and Bill make up and cope with Jessica's presence in their life. Jason preens under the approval he receives from Steve and Sarah Newlin. MaryAnn proves to Sam that she can control his patrons, even if she can't control him. Sam prepares to run away to escape whatever MaryAnn has planned for him.

Scratches Sookie storms away from Bill and is assaulted in the woods. Bill needs Eric's help to save her because Bill's blood causes her to seize. Jason is uncomfortable with the Fellowship's anti-vampire agenda. Jessica hooks up with Hoyt and Tara grows uncomfortable with what she sees at MaryAnn's party.

Shake and Fingerpop Jason continues to stand out in the Newlins leadership retreat and they take a creepier, special interest in him. Sookie and Bill head to Texas at Eric's request to investigate Godric's disappearance. Eric uses his blood to bond Lafayette to him because of Lafayette's connections to Sookie. A man tries to kidnap Sookie at the airport. MaryAnn continues her pursuit of Tara, invading Sookie's house with a surprise birthday party for her.

Never Let Me Go MaryAnn punishes Tara's rejection by warping the others emotions against her. Sookie is fascinated by Barry, another telepath.Eric revals that Godric is his maker. Sookie plans to infiltrate the Fellowship of the Sun to find Godric, unaware that Jason will be there too.

Hard-Hearted Hannah Eric sics Bill's maker on him in an effort to distract Bill from Sookie for Eric's own pursuit. Sookie takes Isabel's human Hugo to infiltrate the Fellowship of the Sun. Daphne lures Sam into a trap.

Release Me Sam finds himself at MaryAnn's not-so-tender mercies. Sookie is a prisoner of the Fellowship of the Sun. Bill cannot get away from Lorena and Jason finds escaping the Fellowship harder than he could have imagined.

12 Solid Episodes

Season two of True Blood will be twelve full episodes. Besides Stan, Isabel and Godric, fans will also see the Vampire Queen of Louisiana: Sophie LeClerq in all her glory before the second season ends. At Comic Con in July 2009, Alan Ball promised that Sookie and Eric fans have a lot to look forward to in future True Blood episodes.

True Blood airs on HBO and HBO Demand. Season one is available on DVD and on iTunes. Season Three will begin airing in 2010.

Jason's Journey

Many notable differences between the novels and the series can be found in the journey of Jason Stackhouse. Jason's involvement with the Fellowship of the Sun is purely an invention of the series. The need for direction is true to the character as is his distinct attractiveness to women. Actor Ryan Kwanten provides Jason with heart and compassion, two distinct emotions that might otherwise leave Jason flat and clueless.

Sam's Journey

Sam Merlotte is known as Sookie's best friend and boss. He owns Merlotte's Bar in Bon Temps. He's definitely one of Sookie's most reliable companions. His ability to shape shift comes in handy on many occasions. His journey through second season has him on a collision course with MaryAnn and Daphne. Unfortunately for Sam, Sookie is too far away to help her boss and friend.
