Taylor Spreitler

From LoveToKnow Soap-Operas

Meet Taylor Spreitler, is a talented actress who debuted on Days of Our Lives as pregnant teenager Mia in 2009. Love To Know Soap Opera’s Heather Long enjoyed sitting down with Ms. Spreitler to talk to her about her dreams, her work, her time on prime time and daytime as well as who she’d most like to play in Twilight.

About Taylor's Role on DOOL

Taylor's character, Mia, is a young pregnant teen.

What can you tell us about the role of Mia on Days of our Lives?

She is basically a good girl who made some not so good choices that changed the course of her life. Before becoming pregnant she had dreams of becoming a dancer. Now she is trying to decide what is best for her baby. She had a hard time growing up and wants her baby to have a better life than she did. She wants to make sure her baby has a mother and father to love and take care of her. At the same time she also feels guilty for giving up her baby.

On Days of our Lives, what actor or actors have you worked with?

Most of my scenes have been with Arianne Zuker who plays Nicole Walker on the show. She has been so wonderful to work with. She is so talented and she put me at ease the very first day. I've also had scenes with three other great actors, John Callahan who plays Dr. Baker, Eric Martsolf (Brady Black), and Thaoo Penghlis (Tony Dimera).

What role would you consider to be your dream role, right now?

Mia is my dream role right now! I've always wanted to play a character that was challenging and a little outside of the normal teenage stuff. Mia is all of that!

About Taylor Spreitler's Work

Prior to being cast on Days of Our Lives Taylor Spreitler appeared in commercials and guest-starred on Law and Order: SVU.

You've done a lot of commercial work previously, how much time does it take to film a commercial?

It usually takes a whole day to shoot a 30 second commercial! Soap operas are a lot more fast paced, you may film a hour long episode in a day.

Does any of your commercial work stand out?

Definitely the Chuck E. Cheese one does! We filmed at a real Chuck E. Cheese restaurant. There were about six kids in it and we got to play the games and eat pizza all day, it was great!

On Law and Order: SVU, you worked with Chris Meloni and Mariska Hargitay, both phenomenal actors in their own right, what was that like for you?

I felt incredibly lucky to be there, on a Dick Wolf show, with those two amazing actors! The whole process was so much fun. I was back in Mississippi when I got the call that I booked it. They flew me to New York for filming and it was snowing. It was my first time being in enough snow to build a snowman!

What did you take away from the experience?

I remember thinking how cool it was to be working on that set, and that I wanted to do this forever! Mariska was so funny between scenes, so different than her serious character. Chris brought his kids on set for a few hours one day and played with them between scenes. Martin Short was also in this episode. I didn't have any scenes with him, but for a typically funny guy he plays creepy really well!

About Taylor Spreitler

Taylor Spreitler discusses being homeschooled, her personal aspirations and who inspires her.

You're home schooled. Is that a personal choice to accommodate your career or would your parents have chosen this regardless?

It was a choice we made to accommodate my acting. If I were not acting I am certain I would be attending Amory High School and cheering for the Panthers on Friday nights!

For example, if you could be cast in the Twilight films-which role would you love to get?

They are all great roles, it would be hard to choose! I would just love to have Stephenie Meyer's imagination! She turned part of a dream she had into best sellers and two movies!

Who would you call a personal hero in your life?

My heroes are my Dad and my Paw-Paw. They have both done amazing things in their lifetime, and have always been supportive of everything I do!

Who inspires you to reach for more from pageants to modeling to commercials and now soap operas and television?

There are lots of actors whose careers I admire, but I believe the inspiration for this journey came from within. I just wanted to be a working actor really bad!

Who gives you that little bit more to keep striving?

My family who always encouraged me not to give up. Also my manager who had faith in me and kept telling me to hang in there!

LoveToKnow Soap Operas would like to thank Taylor Spreitler for taking the time to speak with us, and wishes her continued success on Days of Our Lives and in all of her future endeavors.

Such a wonderful young actress. A welcomed addition to the Days of Our Lives cast! My wish came true after viewing her role in the Law and Order episode - that we would be seeing more of her in the near future. A pleasure to watch.
