Top Soap Opera Hunks

Daytime TV has long been known as land of the pretty people. Even when storylines fall flat, there’s plenty of eye candy to go around. From the longest running series to today’s newer hits, soap opera hunks are abundant on every show. Below are some of the top leading men worth programming the TiVo for.

Colin Egglesfield

Colin can be seen on All My Children every day on ABC. He was hired last year as a replacement to Scott Kinworthy, and he has had no problem getting the attention of AMC’s female devotees. Originally a medical school student, Egglesfield dropped out to pursue acting. He now plays the the role of Josh Madden, the long lost biological son of Erica Kane. Of course, Kane didn't actually know Josh existed, because she thought the child she was carrying in 1973 had been aborted. Sound confusing and unrealistic? No one seems to really care, as everyone’s distracted by the handsome Colin!

Darnell Williams

Another AMC regular, Darnell was the child of a military family, where he grew up in England, Japan and New York. After spending plenty of time building up his theater credits, he was discovered and cast as Jesse Hubbard in the 1980s. After his character left the show, Darnell continued to work behind the scenes at AMC, and it was announced in early 2008 that Jesse would be returning onscreen. AMC faithfuls were thrilled to witness the return of this resident hottie, and it looks like Darnell will be around the set for quite some time.

Maurice Benard

As the sultry and temperamental Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital, Maurice has been acting hot and bothered for over 10 years. He grew up in San Francisco, and his ethnic intrigue stems from his El Salvadoran father and Nicaraguan mother. He jumpstarted his acting career by working as a model and playing small time roles, until he was hired as Sonny in 1993. More personally, Maurice has gone public in recent years about his battle with bipolar disorder, serving as a spokesperson for the National Mental Health Association.

Rick Hearst

Another handsome hunk hanging around General Hospital is Rick Hearst, who has been playing Ric Lansing since 2002. He was raised in a close-knit Italian family, where he found his passion for acting as a young student in Texas. He moved to New York after college and was quickly picked up by three different agencies. He has been married to his wife, Donna since 1990, and they have two sons together.

Galen Gering

Passions may be one of the newer soaps on TV, but they aren’t lacking hunk potential. Galen Gering, who has played Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald since the show’s debut in 1999, was discovered in a hair salon, which led to him dropping out of UCLA to make time to model overseas. He is also the founder of a website that features a large collection of talent reels, in hopes he can help others launch their own careers in entertainment.

James Hyde

Originally a medic for the Army, soap opera hunk James Hyde was discovered by a photographer while he was stationed in Hawaii. He is another original cast member of Passions, and plays Sam Bennett, who is a chief of police and married to Grace.
