Darnell Williams, for example, played Jesse Hubbard from 1981 to 1988. He and wife Angie were terrifically popular with the fans. Jesse's death echoed on the show for decades affecting all who knew him. His return in 2008 rewarded fans who waited more than 20 years to see their hero.
