About Neighbours
Neighbours is an award-winning Australian primetime soap opera, which debuted in 1985. The serial is set in the fictional middle class suburb of Erinsborough and follows the lives of the families who live in six houses at the end of Ramsay Street. In its early days Neighbours Australian soap explored traditional family problems and domestic squabbles. However, in the late 1980s show producers tried a different tactic to attract new viewers. They revamped the show and added several new, younger cast members including singing sensation Kylie Minogue and hunky Jason Donovan, the son of well-known Australian actor Terence Donovan. The infusion of new blood coupled with highly dramatic storylines, including murder, homosexual relationships and drug abuse, helped boost ratings.
All About the Numbers
Regardless of its twisted plots and endlessly evolving cast changes, Neighbours remains steadfast to its original premise of following families at the end of the Ramsay Street cul-de-sac. When it comes down to it, the show is all about numbers—house numbers.
Number 22: Paul Robinson (played by Stefan Dennis) resides at number 22 with his daughter Lucinda "Elle" Robinson (Pippa Black) and Donna Freedman (Margot Robbie). The Robinson family plays a pivotal role in the popular soap and Dennis is the only current cast member to appear in the first episode and remain on the show (although he did take a 13-year break in the 1990s).
Number 24: The home, which was originally occupied by Harold Bishop (played by Ian Smith), is currently empty. Before Harold’s departure, Rebecca (Jane Hall) lived there with Carmella (Natalie Blair) and her baby Chloe, as well as Declan (James Sorenson) and Harold.
Number 26: This is the Parkers' family home, were Steve (Steve Bastoni), Miranda (Nikki Coghill) and Bridget (Eloise Mignon) live. The Parkers nephew/cousin Mickey Gannon (Fletcher O'Leary) also lives here. In addition, the house is also home to Lou Carpenter played by the soap’s longest serving cast member Tom Oliver.
Number 28: The home belongs to the Kennedy clan where Susan (Jackie Woodburne) and Karl (Alan Fletcher) reside, along with their adoptive son Zeke Kinski (Matthew Werkmeister) and his friend Ringo Brown (Sam Clark). Sunny Lee (Hany Lee Choi) also lives here.
Number 30: The home is better known as "The House of Trouser." It serves as the residence for Jarrod "Toadfish" Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) and his adopted son Callum Jones (Morgan Baker). The pair is joined by Dan Fitzgerald (Brett Tucker), Karl and Susan's daughter and Dan's husband, Elizabeth "Libby" Kennedy/Fitzgerald (Kym Valentine), Libby's son Ben (Blake O'Leary) also live at Number 30.
Number 32: the Hoyland and Napier families now share this home. It is occupied by Steph Scully (Carla Bonner) and her son Charlie Hoyland (Jacob Brito) along with Rebecca and her son Declan.
