NBC Days of our Lives Signature Moments

It is the signature moments of NBC Days of our Lives that sets it apart from other shows. The signature moments and the show's characters invited fans to adventure with them through love discovered, love lost and love reclaimed once more.

Doug & Julie's Wedding (1976)

Doug and Julie faced a rocky road to love. He married her mother and fathered a child with her (Hope) and she was married to Scott Banning. Although they always seemed at cross-purposes, they never stopped loving each other. In 1976, after Addie passed away, Julie and Doug were finally married. Julie’s son David gave her away and Hope (Julie’s sister and Doug’s daughter) was the flower girl. They would tour Italy for their honeymoon and the couple, like the actors who play them, remain one of the longest running married couples in daytime history.

Bo Kidnaps Hope (1984)

In 1984, Hope fell in love with bad boy Bo Brady. Her father, Doug, really didn’t like the idea of the two of them being together. So for his sake, she gave up Bo and prepared to marry the D.A. Larry Welch. The rough and tumble Brady took it badly at first, but then inspired by Hope’s grandmother Alice, Bo went after what he loved. He kidnapped Hope on her wedding day (wedding dress and all) and rode off with her on his motorcycle.

Bo Is Victor's Son (1986)

Caroline and Shawn Brady are the blue collar matriarch and patriarch of the Brady clan. Their children Roman, Bo, Kayla and Kimberly are heavily involved across the canvas and while Bo was always considered the reckless one, his family loyalty never came into question. Victor Kiriakis (played by John Aniston), a Greek shipping magnate, arrived in town and stirred up a lot of trouble. Victor filled the void left by Stefano DiMera and shared a history with Caroline Brady. Caroline eventually revealed that she’d had an affair with Victor many years ago and that Bo was the product of that affair. The reveal sent Bo into a tailspin and created storyline fodder for years to come.

Jack Learns he is Billy Johnson (1988)

Jack Deveraux was the pampered, but troubled son of Senator Harper Deveraux. Jack struggled on and off with a leukemia in the early years. His relationship with his step-mother Anjelica was often strained, but he tried to play the nice guy and the happy guy. He fell hard for Kayla Brady, but Kayla was in love with Steve Johnson. When Steve learned that Jack was really his younger brother (his mother Jo gave him up for adoption to protect him especially when she could afford to care for him and the older children as well), Steve pushed Kayla away so that Jack would be happy.

Jack wanted Kayla to love him the way she loved Steve and their marriage took a dark and ugly turn when he raped her. Jack grew angrier and darker, eventually facing off with Steve in a rooftop battle that nearly ended Jack’s life. When Jack learned the truth, that he was Billy Johnson and that Steve was his brother, it sent him into a tailspin. He would eventually recover and go on to find love with Jennifer Horton, but his tempestuous relationship with the Johnsons and Senator Deveraux would define Jack’s actions for the next two decades.

Marlena is Possessed (1994)

In 1994, fans accused Days of Our Lives of jumping the shark when Marlena Evans Brady began acting strange and doing stranger things. When it was revealed that she was possessed by the devil, the fans were equally divided in their vehemence of loving the story line or hating it. Marlena found herself in a vulnerable position after Stefano drugged her regularly in order to romance her. Marlena’s personal and spiritual disruption opened the door for demonic possession. Marlena would eventually be saved when John (who was an ordained priest at this point), but not before creating havoc all over Salem and levitating over her own bed.

Teresa, Bo and Hope really have had their ups and downs. But there's a reason why he always called her Fancy Face. As much as I love Hope, she was a spoiled rotten brat from the beginning. Hang in there and thanks for visiting Love To Know Soap Operas
