About Hollyoaks

British soap opera Hollyoaks is set in a fictional, posh borough of Chester called Hollyoaks. The story focuses on the lives, loves and many antics of students at Hollyoaks Community College. On the air since late 1995, the program has been a home for a revolving cast of characters. The stars of the show are, of course, the young students residing in the college dorms.

In its early days, the program took a light and simple approach, focusing on typical teen-angst topics ranging from crushes to clothes. As its popularity grew, however, Hollyoaks began to tackle much more serious issues, such as incest, alcoholism, date rape, eating disorders and drugs, to name just a few. It airs on Channel 4 in England and is considered the network's flagship soap opera.

The Hollyoaks Calendar

Select Hollyoaks cast members participate in a photo shoot for the program's annual calendars. The "Hunks" version is filled with both group and individual shots of the show's hottest males. Some are fully clothed and glamorous while others are shirtless beach shots.

However, it is the "Babes" calendar that is truly the most highly anticipated. The cover typically features a shot of the bikini-clad actresses on the beach, while each individual month features one actress from the program. The calendar is a regular best seller and is readily available for purchase on Amazon.

The Hollyoaks Brand

Inspired by the immense popularity of the cast and the program's reputation for wild storylines that appeal to younger viewers, the Hollyoaks brand has grown to include more than just the annual calendar. In 2008, Hollyoaks launched two fragrances in recognition of the program's status as more than just a typical soap opera.

The widespread admiration and popularity of the actresses in particular led to the decision. The woman's scent, called Hollyoaks Her, is touted as a sugared apple concoction made for those who are feminine, fashionable and confident – in other words, much like many of the Hollyoaks girls themselves! There is even a male scent called Hollyoaks His, described as clean, spicy and fresh.

Since the scents were in some part inspired by the cast members themselves, it shouldn't be surprising to learn that the scents were mixed by some of the actors! Even the packaging and bottle design were chosen in part by some of the program's popular stars.
