The book series copes with dramatic events including bulimia, sex, drugs and jealousy. The television series lifts characters from the books including Blair Waldorf, her best friend and former frenemy Serena van der Woodson, Blair's former boyfriend Nate Archibald, Nate's best friend Chuck Bass as well as Dan Humphrey and his little sister Jenny and Dan's best friend Vanessa.

Gossip Girl full episodes are narrated by the mysterious gossip girl herself, an omniscient figure who authors a blog populated with gossip about these Upper East siders. Kristen Bell (of Veronica Mars and Heroes) voices the erstwhile title character and signs off her erstwhile narrations with xoxo, Gossip Girl.

Season One

Season one of Gossip Girl featured eighteen episodes in the abbreviated 2007-2008 television season. On November 5, 2007 the Writer's Guild of America went on strike. Production closed on a large number of television shows, abbreviating their typical seasons from 22 episodes to whatever was already filmed or completed.

The freshman season began with former queen bee Serena van der Woodsen returning from an unexplained year long absence at boarding school. The gossip spreads like fire igniting a confrontation between former best friends Serena and Blair. The season would explore the reason for Serena's absence as well as her social reintegration with her peers and burgeoning romance with blue collar Dan Humphrey.

Gossip Girl episodes follow a light formula of a featured social event in every episode. The event may be a major to do like the summer ending white party, a huge birthday bash or a smaller, more intimate event like the country club brunch. Season Two Episodes
