Why Scripts?
Fans and script writers enjoy poring over scripts for episodic shows such as Degrassi the Next Generation in order to understand pacing and storytelling format. For example, the typical show opens with storyline A focusing on one character.
Storyline B is typically humorous or at least partially comedic and may intertwine with Storyline A and other storylines in order to keep them moving forward. Finally storyline C is a thread that lasts throughout the season, usually an arc that edges forward with each show.
Scripts show the breakdowns of action, camera angle, suggested tone. Nearly all the episodes in the first season were named after songs in the 1980s.
Filmed on Location
The Canadian drama is filmed on location in Toronto (the show is set on De Grassi Street in Toronto) and focuses on the life and times of the teenagers. The drama on the show focuses primarily on relevant issues to the modern teenager: sex, drugs, pregnancy, teenage motherhood, school shootings and more.
