About the Daytime Emmys
The Daytime Emmy awards program is presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), in a cooperative effort with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The program recognizes excellence in the production of daytime television.
The Daytime Emmys are awarded on an annual basis. The awards period runs from the first of January through the end of January each year. The nominees are announced in April, and the winners are named in a nationally televised broadcast in June. The main event is preceded by a star studded red carpet event that features the nominees and other honored guests arriving in style.
Each year's awards show is hosted by well known daytime television celebrities. Past hosts have included Sherri Shepherd of The View and Cameron Mathison of All My Children. The winners are announced by other daytime television personalities, entertainers, and media figures. Past presenters have included Tyra Banks, Susan Lucci, Barbara Walters, and many others.
