Daytime Emmy Awards tickets are offered through multiple outlets including ticketing agencies such as Ticketmaster. The 33rd, 34th and 35th annual awards shows all aired in Los Angeles.
Get Daytime Emmy Awards Tickets
Fans interested in purchasing tickets for the Daytime Emmys show should begin scouting ticketing agencies at least 12 weeks prior the show’s events. Currently hosted at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California, the average ticket price is about $150 per seat.
Out of state visitors will need to make travel plans and arrange a hotel ahead of time. Some travel agencies offer packages for tourists that may or may not include studio tours as well as tickets to the event. Daytime Emmy Awards tickets sell out quickly in general seating. The event is quite popular, as it is a rare opportunity to not only glimpse some of daytime tv’s favorite actors and actresses, but also to enjoy the pomp and circumstance of a Hollywood awards show.
Fan Clubs and Contests
In many years, contests are open for fans to enter to win free tickets and trips to the Daytime Emmys. In 2007, Sony Pictures offered the Soap Star Treatment contest for fans of The Young and the Restless. Fans needed the ‘watch to win’ and answer questions that aired during commercials of the soap opera. Often, these types of contests require that fans watch the show live in order to answer the questions promptly.
Fan clubs also offer another avenue for ticket purchase and contests to win tickets. Some fan organizations will buy bulk tickets in an effort to get a reduced rate. Fan club members who contribute may secure their seat with their fellow fans to watch their favorites perform, present and receive their awards.
The Red Carpet
Can’t get tickets to the actual event? Many fans enjoy lining up around the Kodak Theater when the Emmys are hosted in Los Angeles and near Radio City Music Hall when they are hosted in New York to watch the arrivals on the red carpet. SOAPnet currently hosts many events from the red carpet where arriving soap stars are interviewed. Soap Opera magazines will often have photographers and reporters on the scene who are looking for good quotes and snapshots. Interviews may also be offered in the crowd. Some years have featured large, outdoor screens where outside visitors can watch what is going on inside the Kodak Theater as well as be entertained by performers.
In 2006, fan favorite Rick Springfield (Noah Drake/Eli Stone on General Hospital) performed on an outdoor stage. Nominees for best actor and actress also paraded through the outdoor areas giving fans a rare, but fun glimpse of their favorite stars.
Red Carpet Planning
Fans planning to camp on the red carpet in order to catch a glimpse of their favorite fans should plan their arrival early to secure a position. Plan ahead and check with the event host (Kodak Theater, Radio City Music Hall) in order to avoid any unnecessary confusion with regards to security. For example, the Kodak Theater may not want fans closer than 5 to 10 yards of the red carpet.
Bring a portable chair or blanket to sit on and carry food and water. Umbrellas are a good precaution in case of rain or too much sun and bring the camera so you don’t miss any good photo opportunies. Fans should also come in pairs at least, so that one is always available to hold the spot in case of necessary bathroom breaks.
