Cast of All My Children

From LoveToKnow Soap-Operas

The cast of All My Children is an ensemble group of players including contract and recurring actors as well as day players and walk-ons. The cast is lead by veteran daytime actors Ray MacDonnell and Susan Lucci, both original members of the cast when the soap opera debuted in 1970.

About the Cast of All My Children

The ABC daytime soap opera All My Children focuses on the Chandler, Cortlandt, Martin and Kane families. While many other families have come and gone over the years, these four have become the central families that all others interact with or marry into.

The show’s cast is as familiar to the fans as their own families. Actors like Susan Lucci, Michael E. Knight and David Canary. Following the life and times of the characters and the actors behind them is important to fans of the show. They like to feel connected and when big changes happen in the actors’ lives, it can affect whether they will return to AMC.

For example, the wildly popular Josh Duhamel played Leo DuPres on the soap. When Leo ‘died’ and left Greenlee in mourning, fans held out hope that he would someday return, but Duhamel’s continued success in other projects soon dimmed that hope. If DuPres ever returns, it will likely be in the hands of a different actor. Other notable cast members of All My Children who made news when they left include Marcy Walker and Michael Nader.

Marcy Walker

Actress Marcy Walker created the role of Liza Colby on AMC in 1981. She played the spiteful rival to Kim Delaney’s Jenny Gardner for three years. During her absence from AMC, she originated the role of Eden Capwell on the short-lived soap opera Santa Barbara. Eden’s leading role status won Walker tremendous fan support. When Santa Barbara ended, Walker returned to Pine Valley and Liza, as a foil for Dixie’s relationship with husband Tad.

For over a decade, Walker portrayed Liza Colby as she matched wits with some of the most eligible bachelor’s in town. She went off contract in 2005, appearing in a recurring status in 2006. Walker eventually retired from her career as an actress and began working full time as a Children’s Ministry Director in North Carolina. The character of Liza Colby was recast in 2009 with another actress.

Michael Nader

Michael Nader made his soap mark when he joined Dynasty in 1983 as Farnsworth “Dex” Dexter. He was paired with Joan Collins and the two shared a remarkable on-screen chemistry. He would later appear with AMC actress Susan Lucci in the made-for-TV movie Lady Mobster. In 1991, he joined All My Children as Dimitri Marick, an Eastern European nobleman who made Erica’s heart swoon. Nader’s portrayal of Dimitri won him scores of fans and multiple storylines as the Marick family expanded to become a significant presence in Pine Valley.

Dimitri has the distinction of being married to Erica twice. In 2001, he was fired from the daytime drama due to an arrest for drug possession. Nader’s drug use and subsequent drug rehab made news, but he did not return to All My Children.
