The Bold and the Beautiful airs on CBS daytime. The show was created by William J. and Lee Phillip Bell as a companion for their number one daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless. Their son Bradley Bell now handles executive producer and head writer duties for the show.

Premiering in 1987, the show focuses on the intertwining lives of the Forrester and Logan families, although for many years, the only Logan on screen was Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). The Logans have resurged since 2005 with actor Patrick Duffy joining the cast on a recurring basis as Stephen Logan, Brooke's estranged father.

Fans enjoy that unlike many other soap operas, B&B will sometimes devote their entire 30 minute episodes to one storyline. Unfortunately, the narrow focus of the show can be a turnoff for some, because the show rarely features strong "B" storylines, making some fans feel that the core characters are sometimes overexposed.
