Amor Real Telenovela

Amor Real Telenovela is a Mexican soap opera filled with passionate sex, high-octane characters and loads of drama.

Mexico serves as the backdrop for Amor Real Telenovela.

Amor Real is Spanish for "true love," which is exactly what the characters on the popular Mexican drama are searching for. Telenovelas are essentially limited run soap operas that weave melodrama and romance through a series of storylines, some of which touch on cultural themes.

Amor Real was produced and broadcast in Mexico in 2003. A year later it aired on Univision in the United States. In 2005 Amor Real was released on DVD and marketed around the world. It made history as the first telenovela to be released with English subtitles.

The beautifully produced 19th century drama tells the story of Matilde Peñalver y Beristain (played by Adela Norieg), a gorgeous aristocrat and daughter of a general, who falls hopelessly in love with penniless soldier Adolfo Solis (played by (Mauricio Islas). Unfortunately, Matilde’s status-conscious mother, Augusta, thwarts the young lovers’ romance by forcing her daughter to marry wealthy landowner Manuel Fuentes Guerra (played by Fernando Colunga) in order to save the family from bankruptcy.

The forbidden lovers are soon reunited after Matilde learns that that Manuel is the illegitimate son of Joaquín Fuentes Guerra (played by Julio Aleman), a ruthless landlord, who raped a poor native girl, and only recognized Manuel as his heir moments before his death. The news sends Matilde back into the arms of Adolfo, creating a triangle that affects Adolfo's marriage to a young woman dying of tuberculosis, Manuel's scheming cousin, and Matilde’s unborn child.

The pretty girl and her peasant lover’s passion and angst continue when Matilde and Adolfo try to run away together. Sadly for the star-crossed lovers, their dream of being together is dashed when Manuel catches Matilde and takes her back to their ranch. The couple’s tempestuous marriage is further tested when Adolfo arrives disguised as Manuel's new administrator. From there, the plot intensifies to include kidnapping; the murder of a priest; steamy sex; and a host of other twists, turns, conflicts and intrigue that will keep you glued to your seat.

The outrageously complex Amor Real has been applauded for masterfully weaving multiple storylines so skillfully that it’s impossible not to get hooked. The telenovela seesaws from love and joy to despair and disaster with unprecedented vigor, and audiences can’t get enough. Sales of the Amor Real DVD set surpassed initial estimates and continues to a best seller in the United States and other countries.
