American Dreams Spoilers
From LoveToKnow Soap-Operas
If you're in search of American Dreams spoilers, you're in luck – sort of. The good news is that spoilers abound for this popular dramatic series. The bad news is that it has been off the air for several years, so there are no new episodes to look forward to!
About American Dreams
Ask any die-hard fan of American Dreams and they'll likely express exasperation at the program's sudden demise. But in the same breath, they'll extol its virtues at great length. Set in 1960s Philadelphia, the program centered on the Pryor family and its many trials and tribulations through the tumultuous decade.
Though the program focused heavily on the family as a unit, its protagonist was American Bandstand dancer Meg Pryor, played by actress Brittany Snow. Meg was Jack and Helen Pryor's second child, younger sister to brother J.J. and older sister to siblings Patty and Will. Other characters included Meg's best friend, Roxanne Bojarski, the Walker family and a host of romantic interests and friends of Meg and Roxanne.
Major Events
It doesn't take a history buff to recall the numerous events that plagued the '60s. From the assassination of President John F. Kennedy to the brutal Philadelphia riots of 1964 to the Vietnam War, American Dreams focused on all of them equally and thoroughly. Of course, the focus was primarily on the manner in which the events impacted the Pryor family. As a result, the program was wrought with tension, drama and cliffhangers aplenty from episode to episode.
In addition to real life events absorbed into a fictional story, the program also painted an accurate portrayal of what life was like for both adults and teenagers during the '60s. Race relations, teenage sex and infidelity are just a few of the other issues American Dreams dealt with.
Cancellation
Though the program developed a loyal following during its three-season run, its ratings were not enough to maintain its presence in the NBC lineup. The program was cancelled in 2005, much to the chagrin of fans everywhere. Despite its cancellation, American Dreams continues to hold a special place in fans' hearts. The positive buzz and plentiful gossip surrounding the show even manages to spark some curiosity today, years after the show's final episode aired. Those interested in delving into the Pryor family's world might wish to delve into some American Dreams spoilers!
