ABC soap opera summaries allow you to keep your finger on the pulse of your favorite ABC shows. As of September 2010, ABC will be home to the longest block of soap operas in the afternoon including All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital.

Keep Up with ABC Soap Opera Summaries

Keeping up with soap operas used to require you to tune in day after day when the show aired, if you missed it, you missed it. Soap opera magazines such as Soap Opera Digest offered the only other way to keep up with your favorite ABC soap operas with their bi-weekly summaries hitting the highlights of events. VCRs gave soap opera viewers away to record and watch their shows even when they weren't home and the Internet, DVRs and the addition of SOAPNet to the cable and satellite channel line-up has given soap opera fans a wide access to what is happening on their stories.

Summaries

A soap opera summary encapsulates the events of an episode, a week or a storyline. Some fan websites devoted only to certain shows or characters, will post detailed summaries of the week's episodes as they focus on the characters they want to know about. For example, a fan site dedicated to Jason Morgan on General Hospital will post summaries about Jason's interactions that week and might even include dialogue and screenshots (images taken right off the television) while summing up other storylines with just a sentence or two.

Summaries are a great way to keep up with what is happening if you can't watch, but often fail to deliver the nuances associated with performances, music and even scene setting. A summary that says Elizabeth becomes trapped in an elevator following the explosion at the hotel is accurate, but doesn't carry the emotional punch of actually watching the episode and seeing Elizabeth struggle as shown in episodes in 2007 when she is trapped in the Metro Court hotel with masked gunmen.

Finding Your Summaries Online

In addition to summaries in print magazines like TV Guide, Soap Opera Digest, Soap Opera Weekly and Soaps in Depth, most viewers want to the minute summaries. Online summaries let you catch up while at work, on vacation or busy with school. Scanning a summary can let you know what you missed so that when you tune in again, you're caught up.
